    Occupying a site that has been used for court purposes since 1803, the Courthouse holds hundreds of thousands of documents relating to the people and property of Halifax County, Virginia. The court records go back to 1752, when Halifax County was cut off from Lunenburg. Read More

    Photo: Downtown Halifax (Houston) circa 1910 Halifax County was formed from Lunenburg in 1752, and the Town of Halifax has been the county seat since 1777. The courthouse town of Banister, named after the neighboring river, grew around the new courthouse. Called Banister Town during the Civil War, the town became Houston in 1890 to entice a new railroad, and after WWI changed its name to Halifax. Read More

Visit participating businesses in the Town of Halifax where you will find great buys all while supporting your local community!

 

Saturday November 29th, Dec. 6th & 13th!

Town of HalifaxFarmers Market, 2nd annual Indoor/Holiday market will be open 9am-3pm, where local market vendors and crafters will showcase great holiday products and gifts!

 

Sunday November 30th, Christmas Open House!  1pm-until

Letters to Santa ready?  Hand deliver them to Santa himself when you visit with him at Cozy Cottage! (1-4 pm, and bring your camera), Kidsw Scavenger Hunt at participating businesses!  Register to win the worlds largest Christmas stocking at The Peddlers Market! 

FREE Children's craft workshop:  kids can make a Snowman gift giving bucket & a holiday picture frame.  Gift wrapping will be available for donations, which will support the Community Clock project

Hungry for lunch?  Pino's pizza will have pizza by the slice available along with regular menu items!

 

Friday December 12th, 6:30pm!

5th Annual Children's Christmas Parade Theme "It's Better to Give Than to Receive"  sponsored by the Halifax Village Association & the Town of Halifax.  The Town of Halifax tree lighting ceremony will also take place during this event.
