The courthouse town of Banister, named after the neighboring river, grew around the new courthouse. FULL-TIME STREET LABORER & SOLID WASTE TECHNICIAN

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the direct supervision of Solid Waste/Street Supervisor, performs general and semi-skilled tasks on streets, sidewalks, and public grounds (landscaping & maintenance). Work is seasonal and is performed mainly out-of-doors; it requires strength and endurance.

QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to perform elementary maintenance tasks, cutting grass, trees, and brush, maintaining tools and equipment, operating light equipment, assisting in the collection of solid waste and recyclable materials, operating vehicles as required, ability to follow written and verbal instructions, self-motivated and dependable. Valid Virginia driver’s permit. Must have own transportation. High school graduate or GED.
