July 15th - Scanning Day at the Library with Profiles of Honor

SCANNING DAY @ THE LIBRARY WITH PROFILES OF HONOR

On July 15 from 11:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. the Halifax branch of the Halifax County-South Boston Public Library System will be hosting the Virginia WWI and WWII Profiles of Honor Scanning Program.

Visitors are invited to bring photographs, documents, and letters that will be scanned and digitally preserved in the state’s archives.  There is no charge for this service.

Along with the scanning program there will be also be a display featuring artifacts from WWI and WWII.  The artifacts will be accompanied by interpretive panels containing information about the items. 

Also on July 15 at 3:30 p.m. at the Halifax branch local author Barbara Bass will present the program “POWs from Halifax County.”  Mrs. Bass is a noted Halifax County historian and is the author of the book Halifax County Prisoners of War.

Registration is not necessary for the scanning program or for Mrs. Bass’ program.  However, individuals with large numbers of items to be scanned are asked to contact Jay Stephens at the Halifax Public Library prior to July 15.
