Woods, Hummingbirds and Orchards Coming to the Museum

     The Southside Master Gardener Association will offer the upcoming programs in November from 11am to 1pm at the South Boston - Halifax County Museum.  These classes are open to the public at no charge but reservations are requested.

     On Friday, November 6 "The Woods in Your Backyard" will be given by Master Gardener and Tree Steward Janice Aulisio.  Janice has attended special tree steward training during Master Gardener College and Reveling in the Magnificence of Trees Workshop.  She will use this knowledge to show you how to use trees to turn your property into a place of beauty to benefit the environment for you and your family.

     On Saturday November 14 "Take a Walk Through Eden" will be presented by Joe Lively, author of "Hummingbirds and the Flowers They Love".  Joe developed a love for nature photography at an early age focusing his lens on wildlife, especially birds.  Using his captivating photography to take us on a visual nature walk through Eden.  Joe will have copies of his book available for purchase, checks or cash only, and will hold a book signing following the presentation.

     Master Gardener and certified Permaculturist Ben Capozzi will speak on Friday November 20.  Ben did internships this past summer and will share his experiences in a Canadian Permaculture Orchard and in Upstate New York.  Ben brings an array of talents to the table such as freelance designer, gardener, and educator.  He is the part-time educator for the Natural History collection at the Danville Science Center and Butterfly Garden.  He also writes around the web and for local papers, shoots microstock photography, and shares his ongoing garden projects at his blog, TheMainStreetGardener.com.
