Free Literary Event at Historic Elmo Grocery

Free literary event at the historic Elmo Grocery

Halifax Author Andrea Palmer Woodward will read from her recently published book Oak House at 6:00 on December 11th, at the historic Elmo Grocery, 6247 Birch-Elmo Road.  The book is currently available for sale at the Halifax-South Boston Visitors Center, and a few books will be available for signing on the evening of the event in Elmo.  This event is free to the public in hopes that it will support local authors by offering a place in our community where we can gather to discuss their literary achievements.

Andrea Palmer Woodward (McKinney) was born in Wales, lived in Canada, then immigrated to the United States with her family when she was in her teens. She attended the University of Virginia, earned a degree in Accounting, and is a licensed CPA. After retiring from her career in DC she and her husband retired to a small farm in South Boston. Despite her conventional profession, her loves include reading and creative writing, animals, farming, nature, history, science and mysticism and her books weave many of these divergent interests into an intriguing whole. Besides her husband, Ed McKinney, who is also a retired accountant, she has three children and five grandchildren. Ms. Palmer has written two other books, which she is finalizing for publication, and has a sequel to Oak House under development. She hopes her small herd of mischievous goats will allow her enough time to finish them.

Oak House is a historical fiction set in a small community in Virginia.
